The Savage Gear Soft Fluorocarbon is a high-quality leader material specifically designed to offer the perfect balance between invisibility, strength, and suppleness.
Why choose Soft Fluorocarbon?
Unlike standard fluorocarbon, the "Soft" variant is less rigid. This offers several major advantages for your lure presentation:
Natural action: Due to its suppleness, lures (such as the Gravity Twitch or the 4Play V2) can move more freely.
Invisibility: It has nearly the same refractive index as water, making it virtually invisible to wary predatory fish underwater.
High knot strength: Because the material is softer, knots seat better and tighter without damaging the line.
Abrasion-resistant and UV-resistant: It is highly resistant to fraying against rocks or mussels and does not degrade from sunlight.
Important to know
Sinking: Fluorocarbon is heavier than mono or braid, causing your line to sink faster. This is ideal for fishing with crankbaits and softbaits.
Pike resistance: While thick fluoro (0.80mm and up) is often considered "pike-resistant," steel or titanium remains safer against razor-sharp teeth. For the 3D Suicide Duck or larger swimbaits, many anglers recommend using at least 0.90mm.
Tip: For thinner diameters, use an Albright knot or the FG knot to connect your braided main line directly to the Soft Fluorocarbon.
